The Garden Route is sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma
mountains and the Indian Ocean. The Outeniqua Mountains and Tsitsikamma
National park are a unique mixture of Cape Fynbos and temperate Afro
Montane indigenous forest. Nearly 300 species of birdlife are to
be found in this variety of habitats. This is an opportunity to catch a
glimpse of the elusive Narina Trojan and the inquisitive Knysna Loerie,
who enjoy the tranquil shade of the leafy canopy
Kayak or boat from Plettenberg bay were you can see dolphins, seals and
a host of other marine life. Various bays along the Garden Route are
nurseries to endangered Southern Right Whales which calve here in the
winter and spring (July to December).
