Garden Route Cycling Tour

A classic trip along the Garden Route begins in Cape Town, winds through the rugged scenery of the Little Karoo to Oudtshoorn, over the dramatic Outeniqua Mountains, along vast stretches of coastline and through indigenous forests ending in Addo Elephant National Park, in the Eastern Cape.

This route is perfect for discerning travellers seeking a combination of adventure and creature comforts. Tours can include cycling through stunning scenery along with many other activities.

Explore the ancient Cango Caves, soak up the flavour of the Klein Karoo, hike in Tsitsikamma National Park and Robberg Peninsula, whale watch or sea kayak with Dolphins in Plettenberg Bay, bungy jump off Bloukrans Bridge (the world’s highest commercial jump), mountain bike in the Knysna Forests and track the “Big Five” on safari in Addo – the choice is yours!

The Garden Route is sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains and the Indian Ocean. The Outeniqua Mountains and Tsitsikamma National Park are a unique mixture of Cape Fynbos and temperate Afromontane indigenous forest. The wide variety of birdlife gives you an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the elusive Narina Trojan and the inquisitive Knysna Loerie, who enjoy the tranquil shade of the leafy canopy.

On the Northern side of the Outeniqua Mountains, discover the stunning rugged scenery of the Klein Karoo. Agriculture predominates in this area and a visit to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital, is a must to get a sense for South African farm life.  Many thrilling and magic mountain passes connecting Karoo and Garden Route await the adventurous cyclist and passionate photographer.
