“Interesting bike tour through Cape Town! Very nice to explore the city with Jeremy and William, who told a lot about the history and backgrounds. A visit to Bo Kaap was also a highlight with a delicious snack in between.” 27 Jul 2019 John, Muscat, Oman

“Perfect first time in mountain bike. The Guide was perfect, as was the choice of the road. We went inside a Vinícola close to Cape Town, the view was perfect!!! We really had a wonderful time. I’d certainly indicate and would for sure do it again!!”  G Blimamoraes Brasilia, DF July 209

“Great tour of Cape Town … highly recommended. Five very big stars for this tour. It was a great way to get a thorough overview of the history of Cape Town and its culture; its historical landmarks and neighborhoods; and the overall landscape of an amazing city. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable about the city and the history of its people, and he answered our dozens of questions with great insights and panache. I would recommend taking this tour early in your stay, as it will help you get a sense of what other sights you want to see during your stay in Cape Town.” Jeff K Denver, Colorado July 2019

“I would highly recommend doing a township tour. It was more fulfilling than the rest of the touristy stuff that we did in South Africa. As a visitor from another country it was a meaningful way to experience a bit of what day to day life is like for many South Africans. People were welcoming to tourists, as they see it is a generative economy for them- people were also very friendly in general. White South Africans could benefit greatly from perspective of a township tour too. William, our tour guide was great. He is a likeable, well-connected resident of the community that we visited. He gave insight to the realities of residents and a comprehensive tour and was open-minded and could answer all of our questions.” Jessica MacDaniel  May 2019

“We did an AWOL biking township tour with William, who is a local living in Masiphumelele, and it was very informative and rewarding. We learned a lot about the lives of different people living within this community. I recommend it over any other tour, to see a different side of Capetown, and to gain some perspective and learn about some of the issues that the townships are facing. Despite the hardships, the community was happy to see us there and made us feel very welcome. Prepare to meet a lot of genuinely happy children who really want to hug you. ” Simon Bogota Colombia May 2019

“The AWOL Cape Town city cycle tour is a great introduction to the city (and South Africa), thanks to a well informed guide. We did it on a Saturday, which meant next to no traffic. Regardless they favour smaller streets when possible, so traffic is not an issue. Also suitable for people with a basic level of fitness.” Belgium April 2019

“We just returned to Europe from Cape Town, and one of our highlights was definitely AWOL’s city cycling tour. Our guide Jeremy was super-knowledgeable and fun. He really dug deep into the city/country’s history and culture, and helped us to understand current social and political matters in South Africa. The tour is suitable for all levels of cycling experience: it’s easy-going, and there are plenty of stops to learn all about the city’s fascinating hot spots. Jeremy even had sunscreen for those who forgot (it was me, whoops!). I highly recommend this tour to start your stay in Cape Town – it will give you lots of ideas of what else you’ll want to see and do!” Dorine April 2019

” Great time mountain biking with the Family downhill to Tokai Forest with AWOL Tours. Jeremy came at the hotel for pick-up. After a 15 minutes’ drive we arrived at the meeting point, where we met Sally and Max, and the cycling tour begun. The bikes where well maintained and the perfect sizes for my kid and myself. We enjoyed the downhill tour which had also some technical challenges with a great panorama. A lot of fun with Jeremy, Sally and Max which were excellent guides and always attentive about security and patient in order that each of us could do the trip at his own pace. A really good organisation with Awol which is a trustful company. We had an excellent time, highly recommended. “ Nina Belgium April 2019

My group got stranded in Cape Town for an extra day this weekend (our flight was cancelled). So we decided to book a 3 hour cycle tour around the city with AWOL. We had a great time! Great guide who was very knowledgeable about Cape Town and its history. Mostly flat, this tour would be suitable for all ages and abilities. Callister April 2019

“As ever, the most informative and authentic way to see anywhere is on foot or by bicycle. The cycling part is within the physical capabilities of anyone with even a modicum of fitness. You do need a basic amount of street smarts and alertness to stay with the group and watch traffic, pedestrians and other obstacles as you need to negotiate roads, tracks, intersections and footpaths, all of which you share with other users. It’s not a big deal but you need to pay attention and use judgement. In return, you are experiencing Cape Town much more like a normal commuter or resident than like a tourist. Except for Niels stopping every 500m or so to tell you about stuff. Much of the content is historical but current events and more recent infrastructure is covered as well.  The bikes are pretty standard hire bikes; not flash but certainly usable. The change in weather meant taking both a windbreaker and sunscreen was useful. Sunglasses mandatory for the wind and dust. ” Australia April 2019

“Overall, we had a really excellent experience. Our guide Dave Kruger was outstanding , very flexible to meet our needs , knowledgeable , helpful and good fun. In the morning , we cycled around 30km, through many vineyards, interesting places and wonderful scenery. Mainly in the Franschhoek area. The terrain was mainly road and dirt track , with only a few hills . We are in our late fifties and reasonably fit. This 30km morning ride perfectly suited our needs . After our morning cycle , we had various options and chose a light lunch at one of the older beautiful and peaceful Vineyards. In the afternoon , Dave again matched our needs by driving us for our wine tasting in various Stellenbosch vineyards , culminating at our favourite Villiers vineyard . The young lady who supplied our tasting was extremely informative and should be commended . We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. A total of nine hours of personal service at a very reasonable price. Overall, a 5 star experience which exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the AWOL Tours team”. Roy & Janet, Exeter , Devon, England. Jan 2019

“I did the Cape Town City Cycle Tour on November 19th at 10am. I must say that was one of the highlights of my Cape Town visit. Our guide,Leo was very knowledgeable and allowed ample time at the stops for information and questions. The ride itself was easy and with the wonderful weather, it was a really fun, exciting and informative way to see the city. ”  Antoo S Nov 2019
“I live in Sweden and visited SA for a conference. Seven of us wanted to spend a day mountain biking and found AWOL Tours. After a quick mail to Sally they contacted us with details and answered question quickly. It is easy to plan and arrange trips with AWOL. They have a system to pay with that is trustworthy and simple to use. The MTB trip to Wellington was superb. We made a last minute change due to bad weather in Cape Town. Good guides, lunch and proactivity from the team. After a fantastic 3 hour ride we agreed to continue the day after lunch with wine tasting before heading back for Cape Town again. All in all, a well spent day with a team of very service oriented staff. They were open for everything and made our day a success. ” Martin A Sweden Nov 2019
“Vielen Dank für die tollen Bilder und das Video. Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Stadtführung mit Dir.
Du hast das sehr gut gemacht. Mit dem Fahrrad macht es einfach sehr viel Spaß eine Stadt zu erkunden.” Simone und HOLGER Deutsch Okt 2018
“My wife and I wanted to explore the city and and safely as possible. Furthermore we only had a day to do so and didn’t want to waste time aimlessly lost. We were advised on the big red bus tour but out simply this wasn’t for us. So we opted for a group cycle with AWOL tours. Can honestly say that we would never have crammed in as much sight seeing in 3 hours on our own or hopping on and off a packed bus. I highly recommend this – the guide was excellent in terms of knowledge and the route he opted to take us on. He even incorporated things like we to do when exploring any city – took us to a really cool independent coffee shop. If the bus isn’t for you but you’d still like to be educated on the city by a local, I would totally recommend this” S Mackme  UK

“My husband and I had a wonderful tour private tour with Vaughn. Bike tours are our. Favorite thing to do on our first day in any city. It is an excellent way to cover a lot of ground and get a feel for a city. This tour did not disappoint! We paid the extra rand for the ebikes. ” Shannon K from Indianapolis, Indiana

Was a super fun tour through Cape Town. The guide (Sally) really took her time to show and explain everything. An absolute must to explore the city by bike!” Sept 2018 Debbie Belgium

AWOL tours and in particular our guide Bevan was amazing – on time, informative, interesting and very good with our 2 girls – we had an excellent tour seeing the penguins at Boulders beach and then cycling around the national park. The animals were even on good form and we saw ostrich, baboons, zebra, and eland. Stop off at Cape Point for photos and a walk up to the lighthouse and then a very scenic drive with lunch stop on the way back. Bevan kept the girls going with interesting animal facts and plenty of snacks. We were so impressed with the tour that we also signed up to the Masiphumelele township bike tour.” Charlie UK Sept 2018

“We did a Cape Town City Cycling Tour with AWOL on June 20th. Niels, the guide, was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot about the history of Cape Town. The riding was easy and I felt safe on the entire ride” M Edwards Colorado July 2018

“With only 3 days in Cape Town, we wanted to make the most of our time there. Luckily, we booked 3 days of activities with AWOL. Unluckily the weather did not cooperate but it did not affect our enjoyment at all. AWOL was quickly able to adjust our itinerary so instead of cycling in the downpour, we opted for a wine tour (by car) of the Stellenbosch area. Lots of fun. Then the next day a full day to the Cape Penninsula: visited the penguins at Boulder Beach, cycling for part of it, a short hike, and a lovely lunch. And the 3rd day again was rainy so we did our city tour by van. We were very pleased with our guide, Bevan. Lots of fun and so knowledgeable! Wish I knew half as much about our own country! Beven also gave us restaurant suggestions and both were excellent. We really appreciated how flexible the company was to alter our plans and even refund the portion that we could not do because of weather. Truly an excellent company to deal with.” L Cofman Vancouver June 2018

“We had a fantastic day of biking on the peninsula, seeing ostriches, penguins, baboons and seals. The nature is spectacular! We found the whole arrangement very well thought out and prepared; we were picked up at the hotel and our guide Jeremy dropped us of with about 25k left to bike to the cape of Good Hope. From there we made a small hike across to the lighthouse and continued north for lunch at the Cape Farm House. Another short biking tour after lunch took us to the penguins in Simon´s town. All in all we had a fantastic experience and we are especially glad and thankful that we had such a great guide with us all day! ” May 2018

“Great experience to see and feel life in the township with the guide of a local. Must do! The visits from a gospel church on Sunday was of great added value to meet locals. They bikes were of good quality and we felt save were ever we were with the guide who got welcomed and greated where ever we biked, stopped, walked and ate. Very special trip.” Karin Netherlands April 2018

We took a wonderful biking tour from Franschhoek through the Winelands, visiting great wine estates and experiencing the great area around the winelands. Our guide, Danielle, was very experienced, all equipment was provided and measured and adjusted to our needs. It was a great half-day trip for the kids and adults. Schardt Jan 2018

We did the half day cycle around the city. It was brilliant to be on bikes and to have a chat with a local. The guide was very knowledgeable and the time spent was well worth it. They even gave us the water bottles at the end! Lizi Thomas Dec 2017

We did the 3hour tour of the city with our 4 kids. It was a great experience thanks to Paul our guide. A lot of information, history and cultural tips. We really enjoyed it, a must do ! Edeplace Feb 2018

Our guide William was great. He himself lives in this township in the formal part and likes this place. our money will be donated to some project within this township. he will show you places where your money goes to in the formal part. then you will go to the informal part and that is a great experience. in this township in my opinion most of them are fine. they look healthy and they are happy. it is not like a zoo. you are with them, eat with them, dance with them. the children are gorgeous. they come to you and want to cuddle cause most of the time “white” people come to volunteer and the children call all  people “teacher” 🙂 Christien Dec 2017

We did the city bike tour just when we arrived in Cape Town. That was the best thing we could do as it gave us a very good first impression of the city. Our guide was very professional and she knew a lot about Cape Town‘s history and and many anecdotes. The entire family enjoyed the tour a lot. Urs K Zurich, Switzerland 20 February 2018

We had a fantastic day with our guide Bevan exploring the Cape Peninsula on bikes. We had researched similar tours and picked this one because of the bespoke nature of it i.e. being able to cycle as much or as little as we wanted to get the balance right between effort and enjoyment and as it turned out this was crucial on the day. Bevan was a brilliant guide – very knowledgeable, engaging and quickly worked out a structure for the day that suited us perfectly, including key timings of where to be and when in order to avoid the crowds but also making us feel very relaxed, at ease and well taken care of.
The penguins were a great starting point and then to Cape Point itself. After that a great cycle out of the park, up the coast including numerous encounters with plenty of wildlife and a great lunch – then back to the city made it a fantastic day that we would thoroughly recommend.
You don’t need to be a budding Tour De France cyclist for this – anyone who can go a pushbike should really consider this as a great way of really experiencing the Cape Peninsula and all it has to offer. ” Anton Glasglow, Scotland 23 December 2017

Better than excellent! My wife and I had a remarkably fantastic bike tour of the city, courtesy of AWOL, led by impressively historically informed, amiably smart, downright fun and gracious guides for a very reasonable price. Bikes themselves were comfortable and in top working condition. There was one short, slightly steep incline in the colorful Bo Kaap neighborhood, for anyone concerned about such, but it led to a gently downhill end to our 4 hour tour along the coast and back to the waterfront. We cannot recommend this tour, or AWOL, more. Some city traffic to navigate, but our guide always put safety first, in both wise pre-trip instructions and even wiser en route practice. We are very grateful for AWOL’s, and all of its staff’s expertise, and more-than-excellent customer service (for example, a link in the reminder email the day before triggered our google map’s GPS to their location on the V&A Waterfront). G Barned Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 24 December 2017

My husband and I had Jeremy from AWOL Tours as our guide for this five day hike. It would not have been possible without him as sections of the trail have changed since it was first set up about 10 years ago. So this means having someone take our gear from camp to camp as well as drive us past the now no-go areas is imperative. (Thanks Niels). We loved the walk and the accommodation is great as was Jeremy’s cooking and companionship and his choice of wine! Jeremy changed the hiking on Table Mountain to suit the weather conditions. It was a really special experience getting away from the busyness of Cape Town and to experience the beautiful environment the area has to offer. The hike was quite hard at times, so do some training beforehand if you aren’t young and fit like you used to be (like us!) It was more the distances and quite a few ups and downs rather than difficulty of the walk. Highly recommended. Netty A Brisbane, Australia  26 October 2017

I arrived in Cape Town with my touring bike, overwhelmed. Found Awol tours and arranged two trips. Very professional, well organised. Thank-you” Gasser Viceco Italy July 2017

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Private Hiking Tour of Table Mountain. I had initially contacted another tour guide company but dealt with a very unresponsive person which annoys me, so I searched online and luckily found AWOL Tours. They were very quick to respond and were very helpful with answering all my questions & helping planning our excursion. There are 900 different trails up, so I would definitely recommend a capable guide. We initially planned an early morning hike, but wanted to have sundowners at the top and cable car down, so we pushed back to a 1pm start time. This company is great bc they provide round trip transfers, light lunch, snacks, and 1.5 liters of water per person. I tend to drink a lot so brought some of my own. They also are great in telling you what to pack: backpack to help carry the load, light jacket in case it’s windy at the top, hat, sunscreen, and good sneakers or hiking boots. We are a group of 8 healthy, fit men, so I asked for a moderate to difficult climb and I’ve got to tell you it was tough! We had 2 great guides (1 who led and 1 who held up the rear). We made it up in about 3.5hrs. It was beautiful and rewarding at the top and all along the way. Plenty of flora which they explained to us along the way. We stopped at a nice shaded area along a large dam for lunch which was a great and much needed break. When we reached the top we had some G&Ts and then waited about 45mins in line for the cable car. The line was so long we were worried we wouldn’t make it down in time to make our dinner res that night, but they told us they can handle 800ppl per hour and we made it down with plenty of time to spare.

This was such a great and invigorating experience and felt good being so well taken care of from beginning to end. We were in capable hands all along the way. Brian P New York City, New York, USA October 2017

Excellent Customized Mountain Bike Experience. My husband and I knew we wanted to explore South Africa on bikes with AWOL, but we couldn’t decide which tour we wanted to do until the last the day before (all of the tours sounded equally enjoyable). I had reached out to a number of different tour companies about a month before our trip and Sally was by far the most responsive and thorough explaining our different options. After we arrived in South Africa, Sally and Helen were beyond accommodating for our half day mountain bike trip (which ended with a spontaneous trip to a vineyard for a wine tasting at the end). Our guide (Bevan) was was also incredibly nice and helpful (even as I got lightheaded partway into our trip and almost passed out- completely my fault for not hydrating enough earlier that morning). Our trip was unlike other tours that we’ve done and it was 100% tailored to what we wanted to do. It was hands down the highlight of our entire trip to South Africa. We had such a fun time that we were hoping to do another tour (renting the full suspension mountain bikes), but our trip didn’t give us enough time to do so. We definitely will do another AWOL tour if we return to SA someday. Emily C Weston, Massachusetts October 2017

Fabulous guide and help. 14 of us cycled the Western Cape in February 2016. I run volunteer cycle tours for CTC and the help was impeccable. Sally was constantly helpful and Dave our guide was so good, I’m looking to explore Namibia with him in 2016, yes it was that good. Neil Moose, Bath Feb 2016

“Thank you for organising another brilliant mini tour for us again this year. Despite the erratic weather we had a great time and Jeremy kept the boys fully occupied! He was, as ever, brilliant and Kim was a wonderful addition to the team. I hope we will be calling on your services again next year.” –  Jennifer Akhurst UK August 2015

“A lot of the activities we had planned whilst we were in Cape Town kept getting cancelled because of the rain. Fortunately, we were able to organise a bike tour of the city with Jeremy from AWOL. Despite the rain, we had a fantastic time and learned a lot about Cape Town history from Jeremy. We were lucky that there were only the two of us on the tour so we were able to pepper Jeremy with a lot of questions. We also managed to do the Table Mountain hike with them as well. We had a fantastic time with Sally (our guide). The hike was well organised and thought out. Definitely recommend taking up a tour with them.” – C Rayees UAE July 2015

“We did the Cape Town cycling tour today and we had a blast. Bikes are  in perfect condition, the sights were great and they are very neat and organized.  Now, the best part was Mark, the tour guide. Not only he explained everything with the most patience and knowledge, he gave us tips on restaurants and tours among other stuff.” – R Szpigel May 2015

“AWOL Tours was an outstanding group to deal with during our recent two-couples visit to Cape Town. Sally tailored the Cape Point tour to our needs! Our guide and driver, Jeremy was a pleasure to spend the day with, easy-going, flexible, informative, and engaged. In between the township bike tour and the lighthouse walk, he took us to the delightful Cape Farm cafe, happy to discuss the whole scope of South Africa with us over lunch. Even though it was late in the day, Jeremy drove us back along the coast to visit penguins and Simonstown, going miles out of his way to our new digs. Even for seasoned travellers, this was a remarkable, high-value day, due in good measure to a wonderful, personal tour guide and company. If you are planning a day at Cape Point, book with AWOL. If you aren’t, change your plans!” – Geoff Australia April 2015

“Fantastic experience on a city cycle tour! Meike adapted to our pace. The group was a small group and Meike was very dynamic and a great guide!  We really enjoyed Cape Town and would definitely recommend this tour to our friends and family! Keep up the great work!” –  Paris February 2015

“I was so impressed with the Sunday morning City Cycle Tour my daughter and I did with Dave from AWOL Tours. As a Cape Tonian I discovered so many aspects of this beautiful city that I had not been aware of and would only be aware of when doing a cycle tour with an expert such as Dave. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to doing the township tour in the near future.” – Lindsay Quail, South Africa, August 2014

“My daughter and I enjoyed a fabulous hike up Table Mountain with Mark Sickle. We chose the longer route and were so pleased as it was both challenging and beautiful–exactly what we hoped for. The views were tremendous and we felt a great sense of accomplishment when we reached the top!” – August 2014

“Our Bicycle township tour with Leonard and Zwai was absolutely excellent. We were in South Africa for two and a half weeks and this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We did other trips in other parts of SA with other companies and the guides were no where near as good as Leonard and  Zwai.” – Kevin Borris UK Feb 2013

“This is just a quick note to thank you once again for my guided tour up Table mountain a week past Thursday, it really was one of the many highlights of my all too short trip to Cape Town. Hope your cycle tours the day after, all went well and next time I have the pleasure of a trip to South Africa it will certainly be near the top of my list of things to do. Well we have a long weekend over here this weekend so may get my hiking boots back out now my legs have recovered…. Thanks again” – Ed Riddell UK May 2012

“I just wanted to write you a quick note to thank you. We had an absolutely wonderful time today and are so happy we chose AWOL for our personalized tour!”

“Neil in particular was spectacular. He had such an immense knowledge of just about everything as my husband and I threw tons of specific questions at him (my husband is an avid cyclist and triathlete and I had a lot of random questions about South Africa and tourism, the economy, biology, racial issues, etc..) and he had such detailed, informed and interesting answers. He knew dates and names and was mostly was excited about what he was talking about. It was lovely! He was wonderful to spend the day with and he especially paid attention to our interests and helped make our day very memorable. And for the tour itself, it was perfect. I was worried it might end up being a lot of cycling, cycling, cycling so therefore hard to enjoy the Cape and its scenery, but it was a fantastic combination of site-seeing, biking, and relaxing. We saw much more than we thought we could fit in a day and it all went by so smoothly and easily that I didn’t even realize I was tired until I got home and sat in bed! But I wanted to make sure to let you know while its all still fresh in my mind and express our gratitude for one of the best tours we’ve ever taken.” – Grace Nieh August 2011

“We really enjoyed our trip to South Africa and especially the Table Mountain walk with Jason Menzies. Our main impression was how friendly and helpful everyone was. We were never short of information or advice on where to visit – we just tried to fit too much into our trip but we have some good ideas for next time.” – Fiona Wilson UK May 2011

“I would just like to say that Neil was superb – he is a great guide and really helped us to have a brilliant day. Thanks a lot!” – Ian Dogment UK April 2011

“Thank you so much for bringing us on the bicycle township tour! It was absolutely amazing and I can tell you that this was one of the best moment in these 2 months here in Cape Town. I really felt to be with the people in the township and all amazing children that circled around us. I really hope I can come back one day!” – Anna & Bahare Swedish Interns April 2011

“We enjoyed this hike so much everything was perfectly prepared so that we could have a great experience. But what is the best organisation without the right people. Thanx much again to Leonard a very professional and nice guy, as well as Henry. We’ll keep your company in mind” – Axel and Ute Dreschner Germany Jan 2011

“What impressed us were knowledge, customization and the experienced service. Above all though the passion of you Sally and your guides about what we were seeing and doing. You were also extremely helpful about things which were not necessarily part of our booked tours. We felt an overall envelope of safety, which we had with our guides. We are not the grand adrenaline chasers (yet) which AWOL are capable of offering, but we had the best vacation of our lives.” – Celina Lunsford Germany February 2010

“You pick up the phone immediately and call when at the time you said. That is something that I experience as rare here in SA. I’m from Holland myself. Zwai and his friend, I think his name was Morgan were so polite! They told us very much and we could ask as much questions as we wanted.” – Brenda Holland Nov 2010

“Monica and I thoroughly enjoyed the cycle tour. It was definitely one of the highlights of our first-ever trip to South Africa. It was pleasure having Sally as our tour guide and she was very attentive to our tailored preferences for the trip.” – Francisco Garrido USA January 2010

“Since we customized our tour, we did the things we really wanted to do. I don’t know if I would bother with the penguins again and I thought the baboon walk would be more hiking. We really enjoyed the Cape Point part of the trip –beautiful scenery, the bike ride, lighthouse, picnic, etc. We would recommend Sally to anyone visiting Cape Town – she was very friendly, informative, easy to be around and professional– we all enjoyed her company.” – Megan Buck USA Dec 2009

“The great thing about this tour was the opportunity to actually sit and talk to people about what is going on in South Africa – as a tourist, there is often an expectation that what you want is to see singing and dancing – when for many people I think what they want is to talk about the politics and history of your fantastically interesting country. Thanks for a memorable day” – Alex Crossman & Emma Norton UK August 2009

“Thanks a million for everything. You get my award for best leader ever. Arrived home an hour ago. Miss being there and with the group already. I feel like I saw, did and learned so much on top of doing the best cycling ever. I plan to pick up the book Around Africa on my Bicycle, to keep the vibe going. Baie dankie!! “ – Angela Brian USA Oct 2009

“Sally, I have the very best memories of our days together, you were an amazing leader, and I am most grateful that we had you and Henk to show us some of the splenders of your beautiful country. I will advise everyone to put South Africa on their agenda.” – Kirsten Oct 2009

“We were impressed by Henk’s knowledge and easy-going style, not to mention the fact that he was athletic and a perfect match for our family” – Greg Sacks Canadian August 2008

“We had a fantastic craft tour that couldn’t have been organised better. The pacing was great as we covered a great range of areas and not too much road travel. I liked the way we mostly had two nights at one place. I particularly enjoyed meeting up with local artists etc. The township walk is very memorable. Thanks for arranging leopard and cheetah, mating lions and superb birds to follow us around Kruger.”  – Jane Atkinson Australia May 2008

“There are not enough positive adjectives in the English language to describe Sally’s people skills, her broad knowledge of many topics, her ability to tell the amusing story at just the right time and her skill at keeping a sense of humor when tested by those who might want to bend the rules (such as me)!”
 — Sandra English USA April 2008

“Sally was an enthusiastic, vivacious leader. She loves her job and it is very evident. She went to great lengths to answer any and all questions. She was knowledgeable about the history of South Africa, the flora, the fauna, the politics-a wonderful experience of another country and culture. People sensitive, handled unexpected situations with grace and efficiency. Have the highest praise for Sally. Knowledgeable, funny, helpful, caring, friendly, just a great gal. She made my trip” – Ginny Lloyd USA April 2008

“Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful experience for us. Your knowledge, enthusiasm and frankness made this our most memorable trip ever (especially the township).” Stephanie and Andy USA October 2007

“Thank you for many kindnesses you showed us, especially for your comprensible explanations on botany, to which I believe all the tour participants enjoyed listening attentively. Though our stay in South Africa lasted only a few days, each day was full. I’d like to express our thanks for all you had done to us.”  – Hitoshi San Japan August 2007

“I just wanted to thank you again for arranging the Masiphumelele township tour….it was amazing!” – Dustin Ross USA August 2007

“It was the best trip I’ve ever been on and Sally was an a great guide” – Danny Ramez, USA March 2007

“This day was one of the highlights of our honeymoon! Felt like the guide, Jason could not do enough for us – really thought of everything, water, sunscreen, snacks, etc. Also, the tour sounded expensive, but it was actually very good value for money. We had a really excellent time, feel lucky we were able to do the ride with you guys” – Bernadette O’Brien, Australia November 2006

“The tour was fantastic. Jason really knew what he was talking about and had a great knowledge of the paths and the plants, and I was excited to hear about how AWOL is conservation-orientated” – Brian Bently USA June 2006

“Sally was an amazing tour guide. I really enjoyed having her around for the whole trip. She put a lot of effort into making sure we were all happy.” – Susan Burns, Canadian March 2006

“Sally was a gem, attractive, intelligent and with the required sense of humour necessary to deal with RAC personage. She was a mine of information on the country, its history and people, and had a way of endearing herself to the local people she encountered with her personal genuine interest. Later in Cape Town we were to meet her Australian husband, Leif, who had similar qualities. They were fully aware of the difficult and threatening issues facing the country but you had to admire their optimism.” – Paul Ventham, UK February 2006

“We will treasure the memories we made with Sally during our trip to South Africa.” – Lisa Porter, Costa Rica January 2006

“The picture reminds me of a nice walk on a sunny day in the beautiful Drakensbergen with a pretty guide. I want to thank you for you nice company and for your knowledge of nature you were always prepared to share with us.”

“If you’re thinking of visiting Cape Town, make sure you call Sally. We organised a guided mountain bike tour of The Cape. She is a magnificent guide and a wondeful person. She is very knowledgeable and will literally organise whatever tour at whatever price you can afford. For us she organised a hike, followed by biking around the cape then it was off to sit on one of the many beaches to drink wine and watch the sun go down.Oh and her boyfriend is an Australian so she understands us :-).”  – Simon Harris, Melbourne Australia Dec 2004.

“A truly wonderful off-the-beaten-track trip to beautiful and remote areas of a fantastic country. Every day was different, and every day was special. It was like taking a great road trip with friends, without having to organise anything! Many, many happy memories”. – Tess and Daniel Hill, London, UK Sept2004

“Sally I wanted to write a note of thanks to you for not only providing an exemplary tour, but for also being so kind to me. You showed me just how beautiful South Africa is, both in it’s land and people. The work you do with the less privildeged is important and if I can be of help at all, please do write. I will look for you tonight at the concert, but in case I miss you, thanks for everything.PS Your snoek pate was lovely.” Chloe, Birmingham, United States Jan 2004

“Sally, thanks to you and Vanessa for making my stay so special” – Clare, UK, Nov 2003
