On the AWOL Tours three day Cape Point hiking adventure our guests can experience dramatic landscapes, pristine beaches and well maintained hiking trails. This is the perfect opportunity to connect to Cape Town’s wild side.
Cape Point situated in the southern section of Table Mountain National park is at the most south western point of Africa and the powerful nutrient rich Benguela current attracts an abundance of the marine wildlife ranging from whales to seabirds. Most trips to Cape Point are done in a rush and hurry – to make sure the ‘must have’ picture at the Cape of Good Hope sign is taken; but if you have the luxury of time and love off the beaten track hiking adventures this will undoubtedly be the highlight of your holiday.
The days of hiking are anywhere between 6-8 hours and can be considered easy from a technical point of view, yet a good fitness is required. Alternative hikes and walks can be discussed with your guide – as every guest has different requirements and we strive to meet every expectation. AWOL Tours can assist with two day, and three day hiking packages.
On the three day package, we hike from Simonstown up through Murdoch Valley through the Swartkop mountains with spectacular views over the Cape Peninsula through private property (special permission has been granted to AWOL Tours) with spectacular views right to the doorstep of Slangkop tented camp home for the next two nights.
The accommodation on the overnight hike is nothing short of spectacular. You will be staying at the eco -friendly National Park’s Smitswinkel Camp Site. This will be the ultimate glamping experience (glamorous camping) as you will have a private bedroom with ensuite bathrooms; the style of tents are similar to the upmarket safari tents. A traditional South African braai (BBQ) will be the theme of the evenings’ as you will sleep under the African stars. (AWOL Guides are experienced outdoor experts and able to cater for any dietary requirements).
This is the ultimate way to experience the Cape Peninsula; walking the winding trails through our unique Cape Floral Kingdom, with an abundance of wildlife (nothing too big and hairy) alongside some of the world’s most beautiful coastlines.
