The name “seven colours” originates from the term “Seven Colour Sunday’s” which is a nickname for the array of dishes served on Sundays in many South African homes. These dishes are often made up of an assortment of colourful dishes like pickled beetroot, yellow rice, spinach or moringa, butternut and an array of other multi-coloured vegetables alongside hearty meat dishes.

Chef Nolu is the culinary genius behind Seven Colours Eatery and comes from the rural village of Tsengiwe in the Eastern Cape. For her, food was not just sustenance but a language of love and togetherness. A meal each day with family was seen as a blessing and thus she developed her passion for food. Her passion for preserving traditional flavours and a vision to unite Southern Africa through food encouraged her to craft a menu that would pay homage to her roots while offering a contemporary twist on beloved classics that could be enjoyed by locals and internationals alike.
